Hobbies: Working out, playing sports, coaching my daughters sports teams, rollerblading, hanging out with Beans (daughter), & shopping. I also have a 18 year old brother who has Downs Syndrome so I am currently working on a way to teach special needs how to be active through exercise.
When did KidFitness (business name for The Training Station) start? In May of 2000
Why I started KidFitness: Besides working with at The Training Station, I have worked in an Intensive Care Unit and I see everyday what leading unhealthy lifestyles can do to you. I did not want to see my daughter grow up to be like that and that is why I started KidFitness. Many of the diseases today can be prevented by eating right and exercising. Unfortunately, almost 50% of kids together are considered overweight or obese and are at risk for many of the adult diseases I see in the hospital. Through KidFitness, I feel we as parents can play a part in seeing that our children learn that exercise can be fun and exciting but also is an important part of life.
Education: I graduated from McCluer North H.S. in 1996. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Lindenwood University in December 2004. Passed the BOCATC exam in June of 2005 and officially became a Certified Athletic Trainer. Graduated 12/07 with my Masters of
Education in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Exercise Physiology at SIUE.
