Fitness Assessments

What is your baseline fitness level?
When you start a new workout program, how do you know what to do? In order to see any gains made in your exercise program, you must make your body do more than it is used to. That is one of the main reasons it is crucial to find out what your baseline fitness level is before beginning any new exercise program.

At The Training Station, we believe that there is more to fitness assessments than just holding on to an Omron to check body fat (and that is not an accurate way to do it) and measuring various body parts. A fitness assessment should cover every aspect of a proper workout from resting heart rate and blood pressure to flexibility and muscular strength.

A fitness assessment from The Training Station includes:

  • resting heart rate/ resting blood pressure
  • Body Weight
  • Body Composition via skin calipers (using a 3 or 7 pinch method)
  • Waist to hip ratio measurements (to check cardiovascular risk)
  • Submaximal VO2 test via Treadmill or Monark exercise bike
  • Muscular strength
  • Muscular endurance
  • Flexibility

Once the test is complete, results will be entered into the computer and a 7-page report will be printed to show your baseline fitness level. It is recommended that an active person (aka one who works out consistently) should have a fitness assessment every 3 months to see how well their exercise program is working.
